lol I went looking for the scripture reference for this, and lo and behold, there isn’t one.
At first I couldn’t find the scripture reference for this either, but it was used so often I thought it had to be in the book SOMEWHERE. My buddy Rogan proofread this and reminded me of the “PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER,” which always followed, and helped me track it down to Luke 6:38.
Matthew 25:14-30.
Luke 16:10. Also, hey, hello, reading this in context, it reminded me of how often this passage, especially verse 13, was used to shame people into tithing, using “you cannot serve both God and money” to get people to give to the church. Hey, Pastor??? God was talking about YOU, bud, not the kid in your pews making minimum wage who has to choose between giving to the offering or putting gas in their car.
Truly a key part of bringing people to Jesus. Gotta have as many non-taxable revenue streams as possible. Our cup overflows.
John 10:10. Pay attention to that verse, it’ll be important to the story later.
If you’re reading this, hey sugar! ♥️
“Before We Begin: An Introduction (I Guess),” p1.
“Before We Begin: An Introduction (I Guess),” p5.
Matthew 6:26-30.
“Interlude I: A Statement of Faith,” p33.
“Chapter 4: What the Actual Hell?” p54.

Hey, Fall Out Boy’s song Wilson? Big mood. (The video is also my particular brand of nonsense.)
“Chapter 8: Holy. True. Relationship.” p120.
Including the Guinness World Record holding Largest Pillow Fight, sponsored by who else but the MyPillow guy. This has aged beautifully.
I think a lot about a message one of the young adult pastors once gave, saying “You can’t pour into others if your cup is empty.”
I acknowledge that RuPaul has a history of being transphobic and otherwise kind of terrible, but this one quote stands true.
“Chapter 9: Honestly, Tho.” p145.
There’s that John 10:10 verse again. I gotta write a whole post about what this means to me.
“Chapter 9: Honestly, Tho.” p146.
Kim Walker-Smith vocals optional, but it always sounds like her in my brain.
